The Uplands of Southwest Wisconsin

The Uplands magazine is a free travel guide to a beautiful part of Southwestern Wisconsin. We hope the publication will give you all the information on lodging, meals and attractions that you need to make your stay in the Uplands a very pleasant one.

The Uplands refers to a section of South Central Wisconsin that the glaciers of many years ago left untouched. This means that this region, also known as the Driftless Area, was left with many hills, valleys and unspoiled natural beauty. The rolling hills and hidden valleys attracted immigrants to the region and small ethnic communities sprang up that still flourish today.

The Uplands offers the visitor great restaurants, charming shops, comfortable lodging, fascinating museums and more in a restful rural atmosphere. We are one hour or less from Madison, Dubuque or Wisconsin Dells; two hours away from Milwaukee, Rockford and Galena, and three hours from Chicago.

Come visit us soon - you will be glad you did.
