For over a century, Dodgeville has served as the mercantile and lodging hub of the Uplands area. The heart of the town surrounds the historic courthouse less than a mile south of Highway 18 on Highway 23. Mineral Point was founded in 1827. By 1830, Mineral Point was where the action was. Mineral Point was the County seat, lead mining center, leading metropolis of the entire area it was all happening in Mineral Point.
In 2002, Dodgeville opened its new Visitor Information Center. Now visitors to the community that’s at the heart of Iowa County and beautiful Southwest Wisconsin have a resource to help them learn more about the area.
