The Mulberry Pottery
The Mulberry PotteryBiographical Info
The Mulberry Pottery is celebrating over 30 years of wood-fired stoneware and porcelain in the Mineral Point art scene. Veteran studio potter, Frank Polizzi, creates museum quality, elegantly simple, bold, and occasionally whimsical pieces with distinctive glazes and decoration techniques.
Polizzi offers demonstrations of the art and science of the potter’s wheel for individuals, families, schools and tour groups. His second floor Student Studio offers more in-depth workshops for students at all levels—beginning, intermediate, advanced and apprentice.
Frank and his wife, Mineral Point’s public librarian, live in an old cheese factory, where he has built his kilns and a tennis court. Their daughter is an actor in Chicago and their son is a college student in Madison.
The Mulberry Pottery, on the corner of Jail Alley and Commerce Street, is open 7 days a week, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., from May through October, and weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
